Google Earth (John Ghist)

Google Earth has become an Internet phenomenon which has opened up the world to examination and exploration. In today's technology-based classroom, it can be a powerful tool for Earth Science teachers to relate a large variety of science topics and concepts to actual places on the planet and allow students to put these facts and concepts into context. This course will give teachers the tools to create science activities that tie a wide variety of earth science topics into real-world settings. This session includes a large variety of activities on Earth Science topics that can be directly applied in your classroom or modified to fit into your current lesson plans or grade level.

Some of the topics that will be covered are:
A. Predict where the Magnetic North Pole will be over time;
B. Hawaiian Island Dates and Sea Floor Spreading Rates;
C. Where have Colorado Earthquakes been located since 1882;
D. Subducting Plates and Benioff Zones using USGS data
