Science Standards

A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas was released by the National Research Council (NRC) in July 2011. The framework identifies the key scientific ideas and practices all students should learn by the end of high school. It will serve as the foundation for new K-12 science education standards, which will be developed by a group of states to replace standards issued more than a decade ago. The framework is also designed to be useful for curriculum and assessment designers, teacher educators, and others who work in K-12 science education.
 

 

 

 

April 28th, 2012: ERROR: Conflicting information was inadventently posted on the meeting page which stated that participants would be escorted from the Cadet Field House at 8:30 am. In the agenda section on the meeting page, it stated that participants should meet at the Cadet Field House at 8:15 am. The correct time is 8:15 am. The flyer also stated the workshop time at 8:15 am. Participants will be escorted from the Cadet Field House at 8:15 am, not at 8:30 am. We apologize for posting conflicting information on the meeting page for April.

 

How do I get credit for 2012 Science Hub Meetings?

The deadline for signing up for credit is May 12th, 2012

If you want to arrange credit for your attendance at Science Hub Meetings this year, you will need to complete the Colorado School of Mines registration form and pay by check during the April or May meeting. CSM will no longer accept credit cards. Participants are not permitted to send in their own reqistrations, so we can not mail or email you these forms. If you are exercising your option for an "A" grade, please bring your science hub journal for review by one of the science hub coordinators. If you do not plan on attending either of the meetings and you want credit, you will need to give Sherry Freehill your information over the phone and mail the check to her or include the needed information when you mail your check. The deadline for signing up for credit is May 12th, 2012
 

GPS Units and SKY SCOUT

Don't forget that our program offers teachers the opportunity to checkout GPS units for classroom activities. See the details. We also have a SKY SCOUT which teachers can borrow to do astronomy activities. We have demonstrated this unit at several meetings this year. It is so cool for a group of budding astronomers.
